Here’s What You Need to Understand About Comprehensive Car Insurance, comprehensive insurance

When it comes to auto insurance, there are a lot of coverage options out there. With all this variety, it can be difficult to understand what the different options actually cover. One of the coverage options you might be confused about is comprehensive insurance.

Here’s what you need to know about comprehensive insurance.

What is it?

Your car being damaged by events not caused by a collision is when you need comprehensive insurance.

For instance, if your car sustains damage as a result of theft, vandalism, fire, natural disaster, or so on, comprehensive insurance would offer you coverage to repair these damages.

A nick or crack in your windshield would be covered under comprehensive insurance.

While comprehensive insurance may cover a lot, it does not cover everything.

For instance, this type of insurance does not offer you coverage for things such as towing, rental reimbursement, and personal property.

Do I have to have it?

Comprehensive insurance is optional, but this does not mean you should skip it. Without this coverage, you alone would be responsible for any repairs that your car might need.

Additionally, if you are financing or leasing your car, your lender might require you to carry this coverage anyway.

It is not required by law to have comprehensive insurance but you should seriously consider getting this important protection.
